DNI John Ratcliffe Says ‘Hunter Biden’s Laptop Is Not Part Of Some Russian Disinformation Campaign’

DNI John Ratcliffe

On Monday, Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe dismissed claims from Democrats and top media figures that the Hunter Biden email scandal was a Russian disinformation campaign.

The controversial emails reported by the New York Post, allegedly from Hunter Biden’s laptop, have been called such by Democrats like House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff.

Ratcliffe told Fox Business’s Maria Bartiromo that Schiff was trying to politicize the intelligence community and cast an unfavorable light on it because he favored Hunter’s father, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, in the upcoming election.

Ratcliffe Says Top Dem Schiff Playing Politics With The Issue

“So Maria, it is funny that some of the people that complain the most about intelligence being politicized are the ones politicizing intelligence,” Ratcliffe said.

He continued, “And unfortunately, in this case, it is Adam Schiff, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, who, as you pointed out, said on Friday the intelligence community believes that Hunter Biden’s laptop and the emails on it are part of some Russian disinformation campaign.”

Then Ratcliffe claimed that Schiff doesn’t have any information about the emails.

“Let me be clear: The intelligence community doesn’t believe that because there is no intelligence that supports that,” the DNI said.

“We have shared no intelligence with Chairman Adam Schiff or any other member of Congress that Hunter Biden’s laptop is part of some Russian disinformation campaign.”

“It’s simply not true,” Ratcliffe added.

“And this is exactly what I said I would stop when I became the Director of National Intelligence, and that’s people using the intelligence community to leverage some political narrative.”

Ratcliffe Accuses Schiff Of ‘Using The Intelligence Community’

Ratcliffe went directly after Schiff again.

“And in this case, apparently, Chairman Schiff wants anything against his preferred political candidate to be deemed as ‘not real’ and as using the intelligence community or attempting to use the intelligence community to say there’s nothing to see here,” Ratcliffe said.

“Don’t drag the intelligence community into this,” he demanded.

“Hunter Biden’s laptop is not part of some Russian disinformation campaign. And I think it’s clear that the American people know that.”

If Schiff’s take is shaping up to be the Democrats’ narrative on this issue, they are not all on the same page.

Whether or not the emails are part of a foreign campaign, their authenticity has yet to be denied.

When pressed, Biden campaign surrogate Jenna Arnold told Fox news on Sunday of the emails, “I don’t think anybody is saying they are inauthentic.”

The Daily Beast Reports FBI Is Investigating Laptop As Possible Foreign Disinformation

After Ratcliffe made his statement on Fox News, The Daily Beast claimed the DNI might not be correct.

The Daily Beast reported, “The FBI is investigating the purloined laptop materials from Joe Biden’s son as part of a possible foreign disinformation operation, a congressional source told The Daily Beast—an investigation at odds with a statement from President Trump’s director of national intelligence.”

The FBI declined comment to The Daily Beast.

“In keeping with our standard practice of neither confirming nor denying the existence of our investigations,” spokesperson Kelsey Pietranton told the outlet.

It should be noted that The Daily Beast claimed their information came from “a congressional source” and did not elaborate further.

DNI Ratcliffe explicitly claimed that no such intelligence was shared with anyone in Congress.
