Shown while playing for the Carolina Panthers last season, offensive lineman Trent Scott signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday. Scott provides versatile veteran depth on the offensive line.

The Pittsburgh Steelers added some versatile veteran depth to their offensive line Friday, announcing a one-year contract with Trent Scott.

The 6-foot-5, 320-pound Scott has played 53 games with 19 starts over four NFL seasons since making the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He has started at least one game every season he has played in the NFL, including five for the Carolina Panthers in 2021 — all at right guard.

But the previous season for Carolina, almost all of Scott’s playing time was at left tackle. In 2019, Scott started games at both tackle spots for the Chargers. As a rookie, he played almost exclusively at right tackle.

Among the 86 NFL guards who played at least 300 snaps last season, Scott ranked as the worst in Pro Football Focus grading.

To make room for Scott on the 90-man roster, the Steelers waived guard Malcolm Pridgeon.
