You may have noticed the leaves in our region already starting to change color as we enter the autumn season, which means the height of fall tourism and leaf peeping season is right around the corner. According to the department of tourism, the fall season, which is only about four weeks long or so – makes up more than 10% of the total visitor traffic and revenue the state sees in a year. This year in our region, Montpelier and Woodstock in Vermont, along with lake placid in New York, have gained national recognition from Conde Nast Traveler, for being among 26 of the most beautiful towns in America.“We sort of take for granted how beautiful our downtowns are in this gorgeous natural scenery that we get to live amongst and so getting that recognition is really special,” said Commissioner Heather Pelham from the VT Dept. of Tourism.Businesses, like the Stowe Mountain Resort, offer gondola rides for a better view of the foliage. They say this time of the year is important for them to help bring in revenue before ski season.
