REDWOOD CITY – A 45-year-old man was arrested on drug and weapon charges after he charged at officers and was shot with a Taser on Tuesday morning in Redwood City, police said.
At about 5:10 a.m., officers spotted a stolen vehicle pulling into the driveway of a home on Glenwood Avenue, the Redwood City Police Department said in a news release.
Police said the officers tried to contact the man, who got out of the vehicle and “aggressively yelled and charged” at them.
Officers ordered the man to stop and get on the ground, but he continued to charge at them, police said. That’s when officers fired a Taser at the man.
After taking the man into custody, officers searched the vehicle and found a loaded and unserialized 9 mm handgun, 19.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine and several hundred dollars, police said.
The man, who police said was not injured, was booked into San Mateo County jail on numerous felony and misdemeanor charges including felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance for sale and possession of a stolen vehicle.
