NHL trade deadline live: Patrick Brown to Ottawa, James van Riemsdyk to Detroit falls through

Will JvR, Kevin Hayes, and more still be Flyers after 3 p.m. ET?

UPDATE [3:07 p.m. ET] – A deal that did go through: Patrick Brown has been traded to the Senators for a 2023 sixth-round pick, giving Ottawa a depth center and a faceoff specialist for a late playoff push.

As for van Riemsdyk and Detroit:

UPDATE [2:50 p.m. ET] – Or...maybe not...after multiple beats reported that no deal was done just yet, Friedman followed up that "something happened" to pull the deal back.

UPDATE [2:40 p.m. ET] – James van Riemsdyk is being dealt to Detroit, per Sportsnet's league insider Elliotte Friedman.

A club trending up and trying to make a late playoff push, the Red Wings will pick up a net-front presence, ironically enough, as they're about to come to town Sunday to face the Flyers.

Philly's return is not yet known.

UPDATE [2:30 p.m. ET] – The clock's ticking, but things appear to be picking up on James van Riemsdyk at the last minute.

Per TSN's Darren Dreger, Detroit and Seattle are making a push, which came in just minutes after the Wild dealt Jordan Greenway to Buffalo, who was rumored to be a piece in a potential JvR deal between the Flyers and the Wild.

Additionally, The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta reported on Sportsnet's trade deadline special that van Riemsdyk will be on the move before 3 p.m. ET.

Stay tuned.

The Flyers came into Friday quiet and with James van Riemsdyk, Kevin Hayes, and a number of other rumored trade targets still on the team.

They did finally make a move, shipping enforcer Zack MacEwen to Los Angeles for another fourth-liner in Brendan Lemieux and a fifth-round draft pick in 2024.

But with the countdown to the 3 p.m. ET trade deadline in its final hours, can general manager Chuck Fletcher pull off any more deals in the Flyers' clearly stated sale?
