KENSINGTON – One person was injured in a home-invasion robbery Monday morning in Kensington, police said.

The robbery happened around 11 a.m., the Kensington Police Department said in a news release. Police did not disclose the address.

According to victim accounts and eyewitness reports, two suspects armed with handguns forced their way into the home, confronted the occupants and demanded their valuables, police said.

One of the occupants was assaulted during the robbery and later taken to an area hospital to be treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said.

The suspects made off with jewelry, a wallet, a mobile phone and a portable safe, police said. They attempted to take money from the victim’s credit card using Cash App.

Authorities described both suspects as African American men in their early 20s, both of “average” height, wearing masks that covered their nose and mouth, and carrying Glock handguns. Both were wearing dark blue or black colored sweatshirts, police said.

The getaway vehicle was described as a white late-model Honda, bearing a license plate ending in 942, police said.

In the wake of the robbery, police urged residents to remain vigilant and report all suspicious activity.

“The psychological impact of such a traumatic event cannot be understated,” the police department said in the news release. “The experience undoubtedly shook the victims; however, the community will not be intimidated by this senseless act of violence.”
