The island of Nantucket, with its beautiful beaches, historic lighthouses, and cobblestone streets, is ripe for romance. Fittingly, it boasts America’s most romantic accommodations, according to Time Out.

The Wauwinet, a luxury oceanfront resort, was named among the 13 most romantic hotels in the U.S. by Time Out earlier this month. The Relais & Châteaux hotel also snagged a spot among Travel + Leisure‘s top 100 hotels in the world last year.

The hotel first welcomed guests as The Wauwinet House in 1875. The adults-only getaway now offers 32 rooms and four cottages between two private beaches on Nantucket Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.

Guests dine at the award-winning Topper’s overlooking Nantucket Bay, cruise the bay on The Wauwinet Lady, and enjoy paddleboarding, kayaking, tennis, and complimentary bikes. A shuttle takes guests to the historic downtown area, full of charming boutiques, galleries, and shops.

Forbes Travel Guide wrote the following about the island escape: “Few luxury hotels are as private or as quiet as The Wauwinet; it’s nine miles, but worlds away, from Nantucket Town, and children under 12 are not permitted. Guests come here to unplug while enjoying graceful accommodations and fine dining.”
