For communications students, a marketing scholarship

The Public Relations Professionals of Long Island has announced a $2,000 scholarship competition.

The competition is open to  full-time college juniors, seniors (including graduating seniors) and post-graduate students at four-year colleges or universities, and full-time sophomores attending a community college whose career objective is to work in the area of public relations, communications and/or marketing.

“As communicators, public relations professionals are called to work with a variety of audiences – media, legislators, fellow colleagues from diverse fields, consumers, and interest groups to name a few,” Theresa Jacobellis, president of PRPLI, said in a written statement.

“The ideals of our profession guide each and every one of us no matter our specialty or sector,” she added. “We are committed to truth, honesty, and the highest ethics espoused by our profession as we work on behalf of organizations, companies, and individuals.”

Qualifications include a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher, current study in public relations, communications, or marketing, and a recent or current documented internship in public relations/communications. Applicants must have a permanent residence on Long Island, or the applicant must attend college on Long Island, regardless of their permanent residence.
